Crossed by a network of hiking and mountain bike trails, Pillsbury State Park is an important link in the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway, a 51-mile hiking trail that connects Mount Monadnock with its northern cousin, Mount Sunapee. Despite boasting a gorgeous and tenacious view along the trail, Pillsbury is one of the lesser known parks among New Hampshire’s network of state parks. This set of images was created for the New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation, in order to increase local interest in the park.

A 200-mile relay race from Cannon Mountain to Hampton Beach, across the state of NH. Each team has two vans, housing six runners and one non-running driver for the two days it takes to complete the race. Every year this race brings people from all over New England, the US, and from across the globe, who dress up, decorate their vans, and race to the beach. Our theme was cops and robbers. Our team name: Get In The Van!

In Salem MA, residents hold an unusual farewell to the Christmas season. During the weeks after Christmas trees are hauled to Dead Horse Beach, where local firefighters ignite—often up to 2,000—Christmas trees in a communal bonfire. The event is celebrated with music and hot coco for all attendees.

In February of 2013 the nor’easter known as Winter Storm Nemo brought heavy snowfall and hurricane-force winds to much of New England and eastern Canada. The nor’easter received a Category 3 rank on the NESIS Scale, making it a “Major” Winter Storm.
